About

ⓋTeresa. 20. I'm in awe of the power of plant foods. I share information about plant-based nutrition, yoga, running, and other subjects that manifest well being. “The body is always trying to restore health every microsecond of our lives. How do we furnish the resources for the body to use?” —T. Colin Campbell  Sprouts Online

he left my mother when I was 2 and was in and out of my life up until the age of 11. he simply couldn’t take care of himself, with the drugs and other sketchy activity, and even avoided paying child support when he had a legitimate job. I never held resentment because at this point, I really don’t understand the possible joy of having a present father. there is one fond memory I’d like to share though.

it was late one night at his mothers house and we were just relaxing on an old couch on the curb that was to be thrown out the next day. looking up at the stars, I was explaining the Wild Thornberrys cartoon to him and how much I wished to talk to animals like Eliza. I asked if there’s a limit on the amount of words we can say in our life and he said “no there isn’t. there isn’t even a limit on what you can do with your life.”

that always stuck with me. there’s nothing I cannot do if I wholeheartedly apply myself.

Thanks, biological dad, for at least giving me one valuable lesson.

My Whole Foods Life:If you are pregnant, you need to read this. Please share with anyone you know that eats these while pregnant. Everyone else should avoid it as well, but especially pregnant women.

First of all, none of the ingredients are organic, so this most likely contains GMOs.  General Mills, the company that makes these bars spent $520,000 trying to keep Prop 37 from passing.  To look at what other Big Food companies spent, click here.  The first ingredient is chicory root extract.  Please avoid this additive during pregnancy.  According to Livestrong, chicory root extract can possibly cause uterine contractions, although it is rare.  Livestrong actually advises pregnant women to avoid this additive during pregnancy.  I can tell you that I ate these daily during my pregnancy and I started having contractions at 22 weeks.  I actually took medication to stop them for the rest of my pregnancy.  The second ingredient is rice flour (processed flour), the next ingredient is sugar (processed sugar), and two more down is high maltose corn syrup (processed sugar).  As I go further down I see honey and maltodextrin (more sugar!)  Of course as I scan even further, I see “natural” flavor.  As I have said before, this could be anything that is produced naturally  in nature.  Castoreum, which comes from the anal glands of beavers, can fall under the term natural flavors.  You can read more about that in my post on 7 Gross Ingredients You Have Probably Eaten.  There may not be castoreum in this product, but it is important to avoid all things labeled “natural flavors.”  Even more disturbing, at the bottom, there are 4 artificial dyes and then it says “other color added.”  If you want to read more about artificial dyes click here.  So the bottom line is, stay far away from these bars!

This is incredibly misleading and untrue.

Soreness has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not a workout was effective. Your muscles can get stronger and more powerful without ever feeling sore.

Being sore really doesn’t indicate a workout’s quality at all. A well-rounded athlete who works within their ability and cares for their body properly won’t ever feel significantly sore. You can still have an awesome workout and walk away without the tiniest hint of soreness.

Soreness is not the same thing as progress.

Thank you!

Cows have best friends.

According to scientists at Northampton University, cows have BFFs and are stressed out when away from them.
